The Blessed Virgins
Oriel Women competed in college rowing for the first time in Summer Eights 1986 immediately following their admission to Oriel. The Women's Boat Club, called the Blessed Virgins, had a meteoric rise up the divisions in the next few years and find themselves in amongst the best crews on the river. They are currently Division I sandwich boat in Summer Eights, having won blades in 2007, and just 16 years after their inception, bumped to the Headship in Torpids in 2006.
