Record of Oriel Crews
2010-02-02The "Crews" section of the website has been updated to include the majority of the 1st VIIIs from 1950 to the present day. Many thanks to Clive Cheesman (OCBC Secretary 1988-89) for providing the vast majority of this information.
There are still a number of gaps in the Summer Eights crews, in addition to missing Torpids crews, women's crews and Committees. If you have any information we would be grateful to receive it by email.

Summer Eights 2009, Day 4
2009-05-30There was a fine end to the week for Oriel, with both 1st VIIIs bumping and both 2nd VIIIs rowing over.
For the women, a klaxon on the first day denied them the opportunity to win blades, but they eased to bumps on each of the following days. This assured a finishing spot of 9th on the River, just one place short of their best ever - 8th in 1993. With a young squad continuing into the new season, hopefully 2010 will see them better this and continue their ascent towards the Headship.
The men raced superbly to catch Balliol - something their 2008 counterparts so agonisingly failed to achieve - finally gaining the bump at the exit of the gut. After a difficult start to the week, this secured 3rd on the River and means Oriel move forward into the new term with the bumps chart showing an upward trend.
